As we expand our rapidly growing family law practice based in and around Vancouver we are looking for some pretty special team members.

What family law job experience do you have?

  • Do you have 1-20 years of experience in the area of family law? (Yes, there is room for all levels of experience).

  • Are you wanting to earn a really great income, ethically, and without overcharging clients? 

If so, this is a really good fit, if you...

  • are qualified to practice law in British Columbia (i.e you are a member of the Law Society of British Columbia).
  • are committed to Pathway Legal’s protocols in terms of consistent client care, document saving and retrieval, and working in a cloud-based environment (we use Clio).
  • follow the Pathway Legal onboarding process step by step as provided to you.
  • are willing to take on the occasional high-conflict matter.
  • will go to court when necessary but will do what you can to avoid court.
  • believe in conflict resolution and not making matters more high-conflict than they already are. 
  • will attend a weekly meeting of Pathway Legal’s lawyers for 30 minutes and never miss that meeting unless ill or on scheduled holidays.
  • will attend Pathway Legal’s monthly operations meeting (the whole team) for one-hour and will never miss that meeting unless ill or on scheduled holidays.
  • are committed to dispute resolution training. This means becoming qualified as a mediator if you are not yet qualified. This is a key part of our client-focused and dispute resolution culture.
  • believe in an ethical approach to family law and not gouging your clients for money.
  • are looking for mentorship from a highly experienced (almost three decades of practice) family law lawyer.
  • are open-minded and value inclusivity.
  • refuse to take instructions from a client if those instructions are against the best interest of children, bullying to the other spouse, or the wrong thing to do.

  • have experience in both settlement-based and litigation-based areas of family law.
  • have familiarity and experience at the BC Supreme Court and the Provincial Court of BC.

Behind The Scenes at pathway legal

  • prefer to resolve your clients’ family law matters in a courtroom as opposed to negotiation, four-way meetings, mediation or mediation/arbitration.
  • will not go to court at all ever (sometimes it is actually necessary to go to help the client).
  • want to do things your own way and not in accordance with Pathway Legal’s protocols and strategies. Great client service comes from consistent systems!
  • are oppositional towards your support staff.
  • are racist, homophobic, arrogant, or a rigid thinker. 
  • will take instructions that are against the best interests of the parties’ children, bullying to the other spouse, or the “wrong” thing to do.
